Club Meeting 7/30- RYLA

RYLA Campers Share Transformative Leadership Experience

At our recent Rotary meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from three exceptional students—Dawson Ghavam, Natalie Hung, and Crystal Rangel Villa—who represented our Club at this year’s Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp.

These well-spoken and organized young leaders shared reflections from their week at Grove Camp in Dorena, Oregon, where they joined peers from across the district from June 16–21. Despite the challenge of missing the last four days of school and pushing through final exams early, they eagerly embraced this opportunity.

RYLA is a six-day immersive leadership camp for students between their sophomore and junior years. The program focuses on team problem-solving, communication, ethical decision-making, conflict management, and community leadership. Campers are nominated by their schools and sponsored by local Rotary Clubs—ours proudly funded this life-changing experience for all three attendees.

Thank you to Dawson, Natalie, and Crystal for representing Rotary with poise, insight, and enthusiasm. Your future is bright, and we’re honored to be part of your leadership journey!
