Club Meeting: Update on the RVTD; Speaker Kelly Madding, COO; Introduction Claudette Moore

This week, we heard from Kelly Mading, RVTD’s COO, with status updates. 

Some of the facts she shared: RVTD’s funding is made up of three main pillars- 35% direct federal, 38% local (levy’s and payroll tax), and 27% State transit funds. Recently requested changes to the STIF payroll tax and other funding avenues will only partially help keep existing reduced services. Without stable funding from all three pillars, services and jobs here locally will be affected. Sept 2nd RVTD was forced to reduce routes, stop Saturday service, and reduce service hours. This also affected Para-transit services for seniors and those with disabilities who can’t access the bus.
