Rotary has been building peace for over a century

  • Peace has been a Rotary priority since the beginning. In 1921, Rotary amended its constitution to support “the advancement of international peace and goodwill.” 🕊️

  • Rotarians helped shape global cooperation. In the 1940s, many Rotarians served as delegates, advisors, and consultants in the creation of the United Nations. 🤝🌐

  • Peace is one of Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus, supported by seven Rotary Peace Centers around the world, plus online peace training through Rotary International. ✨

  • Polio eradication is one of Rotary’s greatest peace-making efforts, because healthier communities create more stable, peaceful societies. 💉❤️

Why this matters locally 🌱

Medford Rogue Rotary has a Peace Team, and it is quietly doing some very meaningful work.

Current efforts include exploring an Oregon Peace Trail, supporting Peace Poles, the Rotary Peace Game, and connecting with the Rotary Action Group for Peace. Clubs can also earn recognition as a Peacebuilder Club. 🌎☮️ https://oregonpeacetrail.org/
