Thank you KidSpree Volunteers

The 33rd year of the Southern Oregon KidSpree program, a partnership with JC Penny, was held yesterday morning. KidSpree is a non-profit community project that provides back-to-school clothing to low-income elementary students in Jackson County.

Medford Rogue Rotary members along with family and friends joined other local organizations including the Southern Oregon Girls Soccer team, Medford Rotary, the Jackson County Police Department for this one-day event. Over 170 students were scheduled to attend the event this year.

Each student is paired with a local volunteer, and armed with a list of clothing needs/sizes from their parent(s) and the help of JC Penny Employees, the shopping duo works together to stretch the $125 donated gift card into a back-to-school wardrobe.

Guided by my second-grade shopping partner, we were able to purchase three colorful t-shirts, a pair of red shorts (his favorite color), socks, underwear, a matching sweat pants/sweat shirt outfit and, his favorite purchase, a pair of Puma tennis shoes.

An absolutely wonderful program. Thank you KidSpree volunteers and JC Penny for organizing this amazing event.
