June 10 – Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory Overview Recap
At today’s Medford Rogue Rotary meeting, members were treated to an informative presentation by Megahn Pinedo, Forensic Scientist, titled “Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory Overview.”
Megahn provided a fascinating look at the work of the Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory and the vital role forensic science plays in criminal investigations. She discussed the laboratory’s various disciplines, including drug chemistry, toxicology, biology and DNA analysis, firearms examination, latent fingerprints, toolmarks, impressions, trace evidence, and crime scene investigations.
Members learned that the Central Point Forensics Lab can analyze evidence, compare samples, identify substances, develop DNA profiles, and assist law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon in solving crimes and pursuing justice. The presentation offered an engaging behind-the-scenes look at the science that supports public safety and highlighted the expertise and dedication of Oregon’s forensic professionals.
