Speakers David Wright and Al Densmore delivered a presentation on their grass roots and deep dive efforts to better understand the local homeless situation, the sea of agencies working to make a difference, and how we as citizens might be able to assist. Measure 110, which decriminalized personal possession of hard drugs in Oregon, was discussed as a leading contributor to our current situation. David recommended reading an article published on July 19th in The Atlantic titled “What Happened When Oregon Decriminalized Hard Drugs?” for some additional information.
Al and David fielded several questions from the audience. State Senator Jeff Golden also fielded a couple of questions re: Measure 110 and what the current senate was doing to address some of its unintended consequences.
