The Medford Airtanker Base boosts firefighting capabilities across five counties—Jackson, Josephine, Coos, Curry, and Douglas—ensuring our communities are better equipped to tackle wildfires. Oregon Department of Forestry provides staffing and trained seasonal employees. It’s great to know we have our very own Medford Air Tanker Base here enhancing local firefighting capabilities.
What do i have to first do to become a aerial firefighting pilot?

Why doesn’t Oregon OWN any LATs? Considering how many fires we have per year and how large they can get shouldn’t we should just have one at the base? Anyways, could sound like a dumb question but I’m curious.
