St. Mary’s HS Interact Club assembles nearly 1300 dental kits!

The St. Mary’s High School Interact Club was once again sponsored by the Medford Rogue Rotary (MRR) Club. MRR Club members Emma Nelson, Rachel Torres and Pat Barry served as Interact Club mentors this year.

The Interact Club was led this year by student leaders Elsa Lee and Dylan Kuhl and had strong membership with nearly 20 students participating. The community service project chosen by the Interact Club was the assembly of children’s dental care education kits. The students solicited dental supplies donations from dentists in the community including toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss.

Using grant monies from the Oregon Community Foundation, the Interactors purchased timers and bags for the dental education kits. The kits also contained detailed instructions in English and Spanish on how to care for teeth.  This year the Interact Club assembled nearly 1300 dental education kits!

The Interactors chose three local organizations to be the recipients of the kits; Head Start of Southern Oregon, Kids Unlimited Academy and the Ivy Schools at the Children’s Museum. The organizations were chosen on the basis of their willingness and ability to use the kits to educate children about how to care for their teeth.

Thanks to the hard work of the St Mary’s Interact Club members, there will be lots of healthy teeth in our community!
