This week, Medford Rogue Rotary welcomed political analyst Chuck Rund of Charlton Research Company for an engaging presentation on the 2026 Midterm Election. Drawing from a wide range of national polling, political research, and historical election data, Chuck provided a nonpartisan look at the forces shaping the political landscape heading into next year’s elections.

The presentation explored how midterm elections have historically served as a referendum on the sitting president, noting that the party controlling the White House has lost House seats in 18 of the last 20 midterm elections. Members also learned about the current balance of competitive House races, the significance of generic ballot polling, and why a relatively small number of districts could determine control of Congress.
