Club Meeting 6/8/25 – SOESD Career Center

Brad Capener, Career Connected Learning Coordinator with the Southern Oregon Education Service District, was our guest speaker last week, and was introduced by MRR member Laura Robles. Brad discussed this groundbreaking regional Career and Technical Education (CTE) center and how the center seeks to partner with multiple school districts across three counties, providing students with a clear pathway to in-demand healthcare careers.

The Career Center bridged the gap between classroom learning and industry needs, and equips students with the knowledge, skills, and certifications essential for success. Through hands-on training, internships, and potential dual credit opportunities, students gain invaluable experience and industry connections. The Southern Oregon Career Center is now enrolling students for hands-on, real-world healthcare training that can lead directly to high-wage careers or college credit through RCC.

Current career paths include:

  • Medical Assisting
  • Behavioral Health
  • Emergency Medical Services

Brad’s presentation was exciting and led to many follow-up questions from a very interested club.
