Club Meeting 10-29 Employment and Disability

This October marks the 80th observance of National DIsability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a national campaign that honors the contributions of workers with disabilities and underscores the importance of inclusive employment. The presentation by Amber Myre, CEO at Living Opportunities, honors NDEAM through today’s emphasis on value and talent and illustrates why inclusive hiring isn’t simply the right thing to do, but a smart business strategy.

She highlights how Living Opportunities’ Employment Services bridges talent and opportunity right here in Southern Oregon: partnering with local businesses, providing tailored training and ongoing support, and creating meaningful jobs that benefit individuals, employers, and the community alike. We heard about people whose lives and workplaces have been transformed through inclusion.

Finally, the presentation outlined how Rotary members and local businesses can play a proactive role—connecting with Living Opportunities, championing inclusive hiring practices, and celebrating companies that embrace talent in all its forms. The goal: turn awareness into action, and reinforce that “value and talent” really means everybody.
