May 13th meeting really went to the birds

This week at Medford Rogue Rotary, we traded PowerPoints for feathers and talons during a fascinating hands-on program on practical falconry with Howard Ward.

Howard shared how trained birds of prey help Oregon farmers manage pest populations naturally and effectively, while also giving us an up-close look at the incredible partnership between falconer and bird. The meeting turned into an engaging Q&A as members learned about training, hunting instincts, conservation, and the day-to-day realities of working with raptors.

The stars of the morning were three absolutely gorgeous birds, one hawk and two falcons, each with their own personality and impressive presence. Seeing these powerful animals just a few feet away was something our members will not forget anytime soon.
